The storm shelter serves multiple purposes. The residents have peace of mind knowing they can go to a comfortable and safe place during storm warnings. They can also visit the storm shelter residents to get together for pool parties and potluck dinners.
The storm shelter is located directly adjacent to the pool. Access to the shelter is by electronic pass key that is used also for access to the pool by lot owner members and their families. Recently added new ventilation will enhance the air flow needed during times of severe storms and weather.
The shelter also contains restrooms and shower areas for lot owners and their families to use for pool patrons and overflow guests during holidays and other special events.
The sand beach and lot owners dock areas are well maintained by Pelican Ridge staff. There are five docks currently and may be expanded in the future as additional homes are built. The beach has easy access as it is a low level beach and does not require steps to access.
Lot owners can use the dock areas to fish from.
Residents enjoy watching the deer, pelicans, ducks, geese and all other wildlife that visit the preserve. Spring and summer bring many species of bird life.
The playground area is adjacent to the Pelican Ridge Clubhouse. It has a combination slide and swing set for the children to play on. There is a bench provided for the adults to sit and watch the children play.
